Message from the school Director

Dear International School Frankfurt Rhein-Main Community,

It is with great pleasure and delight that I am able to write you as the new Director of the International School of Frankfurt Rhein-Main (ISF). I am ready to get this 2020 year started off with enthusiasm, positivity and energy!

The International School of Frankfurt-Rhein Main first caught my eye as I was looking for a reputable, high achieving, international school in the Frankfurt area for my three daughters. As I was researching ISF, I was particularly impressed with the ISF Beliefs, Principles, SABIS Educational System, and High School course options. I found the school also aligned with many of my personal international school values as it: has a highly diverse international student body; is structured, precise and consistent in curriculum delivery; prepares students for university and beyond; has a student organization run by the students and for the students; and most importantly - inspires, embeds and creates the love of lifelong learning surrounded in a caring culture at ISF.

A little bit about me, I was raised as a Third Culture Kid (TCK), a term used to refer to children who are raised in a cultures outside of their parents' culture for a significant part of their development years. I was born in Spokane, WA USA, but my family moved many times thereafter to Alaska, Nevada, Salt Lake City, and South America. As a child growing up, I moved every two to three years. I graduated from Nido de Aguilas the International School of Santiago Chile. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage and then went on to receive my master’s degree in Education from Washington State University. I completed International Principal Leadership Certification from the Principal Training Center in 2017 and am currently working on my doctorate.

I have a husband who has a love for travel and adventure. Together we have a 13-year-old daughter who was born in Seattle, WA, a 10-year-old daughter who was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and a 8-year-old daughter who was born in Washington D.C. As a family we spend our vacations traveling all over the world hiking, snorkeling, swimming, skiing, and biking.

I have over 20 years of experience in education and educational leadership. Most recently, I worked as Head of Schools at Futuraskolan International School of Stockholm, where I led the International School through their accreditations of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), and CIS Membership as well as IB DP Authorization. Previous to Futuraskolan I was on the senior leadership team as Dean of Students at Stockholm International School (SIS). At SIS I managed the PreK-12 pastoral, community outreach and student support/wellness protocols. I also worked with all staff during the final stages of a successful joint and synchronized accreditation visit for the following; IPC, MYP, DP, MSA, and CIS.

I believe each child is an individual and has a unique gift to share with the world.  Our role as educators is to facilitate curiosity, discovery, knowledge, and excitement in a safe, caring, and secure environment to aid in the discovery of their individual potential. My mission is to help students discover their individual passion for lifelong learning. I am committed to collaborative efforts among the international school community, students, staff, and SABIS to shape the school environment to become an inclusive family, a home away from home.

As a Director, I want you to know that I genuinely care about the ISF community. I will be present, roaming the campus to talk with the students and staff about their day. I will be meeting the community at the entrance in the morning and saying goodbye as the school day closes. My goal is to build relationships with the ISF community and motivate all students to work hard, be respectful, and enjoy their time at our school.

Along with genuinely caring about the ISF community, I also care about our staff. I value what they do, I trust the staff will be the experienced professionals that they are, and I will support all staff in their work. I will make time to visit classrooms, provide professional development relevant to the international educator, and take a general interest in what they are doing in their classrooms.

During my first few months as the Director of ISF, I will focus my time on observing, listening, and getting to know the students, staff, community, and SABIS systems. I want to spend my time fostering trust and learning about the school community culture. Together we can move the school forward to continued greatness!

I plan to hold regular Breakfast with the Director meetings as a way of keeping communication open and offering a place for dialog. It is my pleasure to invite all parents and guardians to the first parent meeting of the New Year which I will join in collaboration with the Parent Network Casual Coffee on Monday, January 20 at 8:15am.The purpose of this first meeting is to introduce myself and get to know the community a bit more.

Sincerely,

Corina Rader, School Director
