Grades 5-7 express emotions though music

Music can help us all to understand and express emotions and our students in grades 5, 6 and 7 have been putting this in to practice throughout term two. As part of the music curriculum they were given the task to compose their own songs based on the emotions or situations of love, happiness, fear/creepiness and battle/fight.

The students used the digital audio workstation (or DAW) Soundtrap to compose their songs, which they were able to access from home. “This has been a great exercise for our students” said Jennifer Forness, Head of Music at ISF, “Composition is a music activity that works very well with all of the students currently attending lessons online and it’s also a great way to connect with the children and support them with their emotions during these difficult times”.

We have paired some of the best songs with video compilations and you can watch them on our YouTube channel:

We think you’ll agree that the students did a great job!
