ASMA Math Contest: The results are in!

The American Scholastic Mathematics Association (ASMA) is an annual worldwide school team competition for Middle and High School. With the aim of making math fun, the competition is split into two divisions, Senior and Junior. In each division there are six contests that take place monthly from November to April, and in each contest students have to answer seven questions with the use of a calculator. All this adds up to 35 minutes of math fun for our students every month.

Popular at ISF and worldwide

This school year the contest took place online and involved schools in Germany, the United States, China, Canada, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, and more.

The contest is extremely popular at ISF with over 100 students from Grade 7 to 10 taking part in the Junior division this year, and around 30 students from Grade 11 and 12 in the Senior division.

And the winners are…

School winners for each contest were announced each month, and now that the 6 contests for 2020-2021 are complete, we can congratulate the overall winners.

  • Yunje Hur and Selim Yaman Esgin in the Junior Division
  • Jinkyu Choi in the Senior League

Certificates of participation will be issued to all participants, and special ones will come from the organization for Yunje, Selim and Jinkyu. Well done!

Looking forward to next year!

Many thanks to all those students who spent 35 minutes of their valuable time showing their love for mathematics joining these contests! Looking forward to ASMA 2021-2022 - good news! ISF will be taking part again!
