Debating success

Last Saturday, the school’s debating team travelled to nearby Bad Camberg for the first two rounds of the Senior League. The first debate took up the controversial issue of the Volkswagen scandal, which had come about when it was made evident that Volkswagen had cheated with emission values. Due to a pre-emptive surrender, ISF took the round 3:0, but enjoyed an intense debate against a mixed team of former debaters. When it came to Round 2, the biggest issue of current media was addressed: “What to do about the refugees?” What followed was an emotional and nerve-racking debate, back and forth, making it clear how divided people are on this issue. Despite struggles, ISF again prevailed and took the 3:0 victory, beginning the season undefeated, two victories secured and not having a single judge vote against ISF. Congratulations to Thilo Goss (G12), Israel Mehreteab, Lucas Boden and Daniel Rozental (all G11) as well as their coach Mr. Berthiaume who accompanied the team!
