Goodbye 2021. Hello 2022.

Goodbye 2021. Hello 2022.

As the year comes to an end, we look back at the first part of our academic year and at 2021 as a whole; another year of highs and lows, but certainly another year where we have a lot to celebrate. Having started the year back in January in a lockdown situation, we are so thankful to have been able to have all of the students and staff back on campus for this academic year so far. Although our school system, with a structured curriculum, digital learning and formative assessments at its core, enabled us to master the lockdown situations better than many others, we can all agree that learning on campus will always be the best option.

Great student life at ISF

Starting the year, we looked forward to returning to normality as much as possible and being able to bring back a lot of what we missed on campus in 2020, for example fulfilling and fun SLO® activities, sports activities and events. Although the normality we once knew still seems a long way off, we have been able to bring back the student activities and events within the new normal that we now know. In the last few months we have seen so much life returning to ISF with our new team of SLO students planning great activities, the ISF News Team has been keeping us up to date on what’s going on, the sports teams have been able to play friendlies against other local schools as well as participate in GISST tournaments, and we have been able to bring back many celebrations, such as Halloween, Diwali and Christmas.

Working together to stay safe

Unfortunately, we haven’t yet been able to bring parents back on to campus as much as we had hoped, and that is one of our biggest wishes for 2022. Through reporting on activities and live-streaming we have tried to include our wider community as best as possible, but let’s hope when we look back at 2022 we can celebrate the fact that everyone can be welcomed back on campus with us. It has been a big team effort to keep the ISF community safe, from complying with hygiene measures to introducing regular Covid testing. Everyone from staff and students to parents has been involved in this team effort and we thank everybody for their support.

Fantastic academic results

One highlight we look back on with extreme pride is the external exam results our students were able to achieve, despite the enormous disruption Covid brought to their lives. We are used to our IB Diploma results consistently exceed the worldwide averages, but this year the ISF students’ achievements were particularly impressive. Being able to confidently send our students off into the world, knowing they have been well prepared is a wonderful feeling.

Looking forward to 2022

Once again we thank everyone who has contributed to ISF this year, ensuring that our students get the best school life possible, both academically and socially. We look forward to what 2022 has to bring, facing the challenges and celebrating the successes together.
