First Place for GISST Volleyball U14 Boys
On May 19th and 20th, the ISF U14 Boys and Girls Volleyball teams participated in their annual GISST at Berlin Brandenburg International School. For the first time in ISF sports history, we finally managed to get a U14 Boys Volleyball team together. On their first day of volleyball games ever, the boy’s team won three matches and lost one. On day two, they beat undefeated St. George's in straight sets and went on to the finals where they faced Berlin Brandenburg International School (BBIS), who had given us our only loss so far. On the same court where the varsity team lost two years ago in a hard fought, five-set finals, the U14 boys managed a victory when Leonard H. hit struck the floor after a beautiful receive by Lukas H. and set by Federico S. to brought home the gold!
The girl's team also participated for their second year. The girl’s team had some really close sets often losing by only two points. After all pool play games were finished, the girls went in to the battle for 5th place and sadly lost 22-25, 25-21, 12-15 in an upsetting three set match versus the host school BBIS. Kayra Ö. showed terrific leadership with the help of Chaimin K.. Many memories were made and everyone took away new pieces of volleyball knowledge for next season.
A big 'Thank you‘ to Ms Katie Treppenhauer for coaching both teams and her supporting chaperones, Jessica Croteau and Brandon Campbell. The team stayed at Meininger Hostel in Berlin, played the tournament in Kleinmachnow near Potsdam and came home with many nice impressions.
