Campus reopening update

Campus Reopening Update Week 6

Dear ISF Community,
First, I would like to wish all of our hard-working teachers a “Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!”
I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of many grade 12 students who will be coming to campus to sit their final term 3 exams this week. We have taken great measures to ensure the return of students to campus is thoughtfully organized. The ISF school nurses have shared our  hygiene Safety Plan via post on SDP last week. To summarize the plan please see the requirements and regulations for students returning to on campus learning below;

Requirements and Regulations for Students Returning to On campus Learning.

No sick students or staff members are allowed on the school premises.

A student living in the same household as someone with Covid-19 symptoms must not enter the school campus.

A student with any of the following must not enter the school campus:

  • Cardiovascular diseases requiring therapy (e.g. coronary heart disease, high blood
  • pressure)
  • Lung diseases (e.g. COPD, bronchial asthma)
  • Chronic liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Oncological diseases
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Weakened immune system (e.g. due to a disease that is associated with an immune deficiency or by taking medication that can influence and reduce the immune defence, such as cortisone)

General Regulations upon Entering ISF Campus

  • No sick students or staff members are allowed on the school premises.
  • Parents will be asked to check their children for high temperatures and flu like symptoms every morning.
  • The back gate will be closed.
  • Front Gate will be opened and no use of revolving doors.
  • Students enter individually, keeping 1.5-meter distance.
  • Parents are not allowed on campus. Strict pick up outside the gate. Parents need to be on time for pick up as students cannot play freely during this time.
  • During school time, students must maintain the recommended distance of 1.5m from one another.
  • Safety distance from desk to desk is 1.5 m. Students need to sit on their own table, always on the same desk and not facing one another.

On Campus

  • Students are only to use the stairways and hallways in single file.
  • There must be no running along the hallways or on the stairs.
  • Students must only use the designated bathrooms.
  • Only one student at a time is allowed to use the designated bathrooms.
  • Students must wash their hands after using the bathroom.
  • Student movement will be kept to a minimum to decrease the likelihood of germ spread.

Classroom

  • Students will only sit at their assigned desk.
  • Desks will be at least 1.5 meters apart and students will keep a 1.5 metre distance between each other and their teacher.
  • Students will only use their own device/tablet.

  • Teachers will rotate to students’ classrooms to minimize student movement throughout the school campus.

Food

  • Sodexo and the cafeteria will not be open.
  • Students must bring their own snacks and drinks from home.
  • Students cannot share any snacks or drinks.
  • Food will be consumed at the students assigned desk.

Starting the week of May 11th, week 7, the Grade 1-11 school schedule will be modified to ease the transition of  online  lessons to a hybrid on campus and live streamed online lessons in the following weeks. We will collapse the schedules and shorten duration of lesson times. To best prepare the students for their end of term finals and adhere to the regulations of the authorities which states certain specialist classes should not take place on campus, the schedules will consist of the subjects tested during finals (grade level specifics will be noted on timetables). The daily timetable schedule will consist of 30 minutes lessons and the school day will end at noon which gives students time to review the days covered material, work on assignments or carry-out required labs and IAs in the afternoon. All modified timetables will be represented accordingly on SDP and shared via email by your child’s coordinator before May 11th..

On Monday, May 11th, we will also welcome some Grade 9-11 students on campus for special testing; makeups, retakes exams that are relevant for their promotion to the next level. This will be arranged via the school specific coordinator and clearly communicated with the parents and students.

The tentative plan is during the week of May 18th we will slowly reopen for on campus lessons, in accordance with the government authorized grade levels, in an a/b manner.

An example could look like:
9A split into 9Aa and 9Ab;

  • Week 8 - 9Aa attends on campus classes while 9Ab attends live streamed Teams classes online;
  • Week 9 - 9Ab attends on campus classes while 9Aa attends live streamed Teams classes online. As always, the parents will have the option to have their children attend classes on campus or online via Teams. You will not need to register to have your children attend classes on campus. Instead we will follow an a/b schedule to naturally decrease the number of students on campus and in classes. Details will be confirmed during week 7.

For further information about the school reopening process and procedures please join me and the school level coordinator for a Teams information meeting. Please register your interest to attend to, ISF International School bdietrich@ISF-SABIS.NET and then a Teams meeting invitation will be emailed.
Information Meeting via Teams

  • KG/Preschool Meeting – Monday, May 11 @ 9:00am
  • Primary Meeting – Monday, May 11 @ 9:30am
  • Middle School Meeting – Tuesday, May 12 @ 8:30am
  • High School Meeting – Monday, May 11 @ 8:00am

As always, I thank you for your flexibility and understanding that all plans are subject to change according to the Hesse  authority regulations.
Please don’t hesitate to email with any further questions or clarifications.
All the best,
Corina Rader, School Director
