ISF Swimmers Win Convincingly at GISST Swim Gala

On 20th and 21st January ISF hosted its annual GISST swim gala, with nine international schools participating from all over Germany. The ISF team results were outstanding once again with numerous personal best times recorded and a number of individual records broken. Our team achieved a score of 552 points which was an astounding 203 points ahead of the Bavarian International School team, who came in second.

Our younger swimmers were able to learn from our Grade 12 swimmers who have managed to find a good balance between academics and sports. Our Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys and U14 Boys came in on top while the U14 Girls put up a good fight to come in 8th place. Unfortunately our best U14 swimmer was sick and with a young team from Grades 5 to 7, we faced strong competition from high level swimmers in this age group.

Alexander M. from our Grade 12 broke GISST records in four disciplines. This is a wonderful achievement as some of these records had stood since 2009.

We would like to thank the ISF Sportverein, in particular the Tournament Director, Uli Groh, who, as always, went to great lengths to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Thanks also go to our SLO® helpers and our ISF PE Department.

Special thanks go to our ISF parents who hosted swimmers, provided refreshments and helped on the day. Parents hosting for the first time were very impressed with their student guests and really enjoyed the experience.

GISST Chairman, Eric Newton, was delighted with the organisation of the event and commented “Housing was outstanding and all of the participants showed a high level of sportsmanship”.

We are looking forward to seeing the next generation of ISF swimmers follow in the footsteps of their older role models in the years to come.
