German University Qualifications

ISF students are offered four routes to university in Germany:

  1. IB Diploma GERMAN UNIVERSITY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    The IB Diploma is a passport to higher education in Germany and is recognized as equivalent to the German "Abitur." The German government makes the following special conditions for students taking the IB Diploma who wish to attend a university in Germany:

    • A score of 4+ is required on each exam
    • Student must take two languages and the second language chosen may not be below Language B Higher Level
    • One science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
    • Maths (Maths Studies is NOT accepted)
    • One social science (History, Economics, Geography)
    • 6th Subject chosen from Group 6 (only the combinations offered by ISF)
    • The math or ccience subject must be at Higher Level
    • All final exams in ONE sitting
    • No changes in course selections during the program
  2. Advanced Placement GERMAN UNIVERSITY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    ISF students who apply to German universities need a combination of the ISF High School Diploma and a range of AP® subjects as detailed below.


     

  3. High School Diploma and SATs

    A combined score of 1300 in the Critical Reading and Mathematics sections of Scholastic Aptitude Test I (SAT I) qualifies ISF students to enter German universities. In addition, a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0+ in Grades 9-12 is required in the ISF High School Diploma.

  4. High School Diploma and ACT EXAMINATIONS

    A composite score of 28 on the American College Test (ACT) can qualify ISF students for entry into German universities. In addition, a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0+ in Grades 9-12 is required in the ISF High School Diploma.

German Foreign Language Examinations at ISF

As the leading German foreign language school in the Rhein-Main area, we are constantly looking for new options to offer to our students. During the past few years, we have noticed a significant increase in demand for external foreign language exams on every language level. We would like to point out that our foreign language courses at ISF already provide a solid basis for all external exams at the corresponding level.

As we have experienced and certified teachers on our staff, we are in the fortunate position of being able to prepare students for exams individually, based on the appropriate language level. We currently prepare students for external language exams offered by the Goethe Institute, TestDaF, DSH, and many more.

Below are details on the ISF courses leading to external exams and the corresponding language levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (“Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen”):
